[Labor] Amendments to laws and regulations regarding the distribution of union membership fees to labor unions

2023/11/16

On October 16, 2023, the Confederation of Labor issued Decision 8108/QD-TLD on the allocation of membership fees* to trade unions at all levels. This applies to companies with internal labor unions and is effective from fiscal year 2023 (January 1, 2023). Details are as below.

・70% of the union membership fee paid can be managed and used by the company’s labor union (old regulation: 60% of the union membership fee paid)
・30% of the union membership fee paid can be managed and used by the upper labor union (old regulation: 40% of the union membership fee paid)
*The union membership fee is paid by union members if there is an in-house labor union.

For details regarding this law, we recommend that in-house labor unions check with their local superior labor unions.
