Online seminar for Japanese Expatriates – July 2 (Thu), 2026 2026 Series | Session 2: Building a Collaborative Workplace Culture - Spreading Shared Work Values
2026/06/19
“We can’t get 5S or proper reporting/communication to stick” is a concern we hear often. Many things taken for granted in Japan don’t work the same way in Vietnam, and this is largely rooted in Vietnam’s traditional work values.
The Japanese way of working – built on the idea of the company as a lasting community – is sustained by a culture of workplace collaboration. Precisely because work values differ, building this kind of workplace culture becomes one of the key tasks for expatriate staff.
This time, we are pleased to invite Mr. Kenji Hachiya of IMTC Management Training & Consulting to hold a seminar on building a collaborative workplace culture.
■Program
1. Workplace culture as the foundation of company-style management
– Vietnam’s traditional “employee” mindset toward work
– Japan’s work values as a community built on permanence
– The collaborative culture underlying Japan’s strength in “suriawase” (mutual coordination)
2. Shared work values for collaboration
– Defining expected codes of conduct based on the company’s management philosophy
– Understanding how different work values lead to different codes of conduct
– The collaborative work values we want to share
3. Expatriates leading by example to build the company’s own workplace culture
– Building workplace culture through the passion and initiative of expatriate staff
– Systematizing culture-building through “knowing, observing, applying, and recognizing”
– Key points for building workplace culture
